the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region and throughout the country. Management
CompuMedia Business Services is owned and
managed by Ken Reigner. He has 38
years of experience in writing, editing, journalism, public relations and job
search consulting. His background includes many years as a press
secretary in the United States Senate and U.S.
House of Representatives, extensive governmental, political and campaign
experience and a background in environmental conservation and marketing. Reigner is currently serving his second term
as president of Washington
Independent Writers (WIW), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, professional
association of more than 1,400 writers, editors and journalists, which was
founded in 1975. WIW is the nation’s largest regional writers’ organization.
Previously he was elected the organization’s vice president. As president, Reigner has led a reform
movement to reinvigorate WIW. He has emphasized increased services as well as
professional development, communications and social activities for WIW members,
while promoting greater diversity among the membership. When Reigner was first elected to the WIW
board of directors in 1997, he was named chairman of the WIW Technology
Committee. In that position, he organized annual Technology Conferences at
Washington’s University Club. He has advised WIW on high-tech issues and
chaired technology panels at WIW’s annual Washington
Writers Conference at the National Press Club
in Washington. He also founded and manages three WIW
Internet-based Listserv
e-mail lists to distribute Job
Bank postings to members and promote greater communication among writers,
editors and journalists throughout the United States and around the world. In 2000, he received the Philip M. Stern Award, WIW’s highest honor, “for his exceptional service in bringing WIW into the Electronic Age.” The award is named for the investigative journalist, author and early benefactor and founder of WIW. Reigner's professional memberships have also included Mensa and the Professional Association of Résumé Writers.
